Friends of Haggerty (FOH)
Friends of Haggerty School, Inc. is the name of a private non-profit corporation formed by Haggerty parents in November 2005. It is run by a volunteer board made up of parents and teachers. Parent representatives serve as liaisons to the PTO, Arts Council and School Council. Our mission is to raise funds to support initiatives that have been identified by the Haggerty community as enriching and valuable to the school. Learn more >>
Parent/Teacher Organization (PTO):
The PTO is a group of parents and teachers who host community building events, such as school-wide potlucks, parent workshops, bake sales, and an annual teacher appreciation luncheon. This group is open to all parents and teachers and meets once a month with the Arts Council.
The Arts Council is a group of parents and teachers who focus on enhancing the presence of arts in the Haggerty Community. The Arts Council meets with the PTO once a month. They host an annual “Celebration of the Arts and Talent Show,” which includes an art display from each classroom and a chance for students to display their talent. The Arts Council also helps support our art teacher in the classroom as well as hanging school art around the building. They also assist our librarian with the many author and artists she has visiting with the Haggerty students throughout the year. Typically the Arts Council has tried to do a physical art legacy project. In past years these have included the many banners hanging in the gym, the mural in the cafeteria, the tile mosaic in the basement, and the legacy bench in the garden.
School Advisory Council (SAC):
The Haggerty School Advisory Council (SAC) is made up of 4 parent representatives, 4 staff representatives and 4 community members. It is a public meeting dealing with the administration of the school and other relevant issues, open to everyone in the community, including parents, teachers, and the Principal Nancy Campbell.
