Use of the Library

Students are welcome to come to the library for checkout and book browsing once they have checked in with their homeroom teacher. Computers in the library may be used throughout the day by supervised students as well as teachers. Please refrain from the printing of personal materials. Seating may be used in the library by whole classes or by individuals. Please contact Ms. Novogrodsky to schedule use of the library space during the day.

Haggerty Preschool: These students come to the library every other week with their pre-school teachers for a story read aloud.

K-2: Students in these grades come weekly for library class. Library standard based lessons and skills are taught through games, songs, and projects. Children have approximately 10-15 minutes at the end of each library class to browse, borrow, and read/look at books.

3-5: Students in these grades come either weekly or bi-weekly for book talks, read alouds, genre work, and checkout. Through collaboration and co-teaching with the classroom teacher throughout the year, students will learn and use 21st century skills through research and other projects. Grade 5 students are also participating in the Massachusetts Children’s Book Awards. Book Discussion Lunches will be offered to fourth and fifth graders.
