Monica WellingtonAuthor Visit!
Monica Wellington met with Kindergarteners and described the process of making a book. She shared her childhood memories and sketches, the editorial changes made to illustration content and borders surrounding text, and the excitement of publishing a new book. Haggerty students were an enthusiastic audience with wonderful questions for our first author visit of the school year.

LibraryPublic Library Cards!
The Cambridge Public Library promotes library cards with the Kindergarteners each Fall. Your child will be bringing home an application for a CPL card. Even if you prefer to borrow books on your family card, we encourage you to get a card for your little reader. Collins Branch librarian, Lise Foss is visiting with K classes to promote the use of our wonderful public library system.

Lunch Book Clubs
Lunch Book Clubs have begun! Fifth graders are reading Esperanza Rising by Pam Munoz Ryan. Fourth graders are reading Sammy Keyes and the Skeleton Man by Wendelin Van Draanen and Katherine Applegate’s new book Crenshaw. We meet once a week to eat, read and share a good book.
