The second grade classrooms performed a series of Folktale plays in mid-February as a culmination of their study of Folktales--many from different cultures.
Ms. Kline's class brought to life two plays:
Leola and the Honeybears (an African American Rendition of
Goldilocks and the Three Bears) and
The Rough-Faced Girl (Native American (Algonquin) Indian rendition of
Cinderella). Ms. Hassett's class reenacted the stories of
The Three Billy Goats Gruff and
The Three Princes (a tale from the Middle East). Ms. Callender's second grade performed
The Three Little Pigs and
The Korean Cinderella.
The students were practiced and professional - so well done 2nd grades! The backdrops and costumes were beautiful, thanks to the assistance of parent volunteers and art teacher Ms. Gaines - so thanks to all who were able to provide this support. Thanks also to the many staff members who helped with many rehearsals leading up to the opening curtain.
