A big “Thank You” to families who sponsored a book for the library on Back to School Night. You can now access our library wish list set up with Porter Sq. Books. Please consider sponsoring a book in honor of your child’s birthday or any other special celebration. If you have used books you would like to donate, I will select titles the library needs and save the rest for the FOH book sale in the Spring.

I have the pleasure of meeting with the kindergarten classes twice a week this year. Ask your kindergartener about the fun we’ve been having with “Duck” and his friends from author/illustrator Jez Alborough’s books. As well as his books, Yes, Hug and Tall.

Upcoming Events
Look UpOn Friday, October 10th Coretta Scott King award winning author Vaunda Micheaux Nelson will meet with the 4th and 5th graders to discuss her fiction and nonfiction books. Also, author Siebert Honor author Anette LeBlanc Cate will lead third graders on a birdwatching and sketching trip to Fresh Pond.

We would like to thank the Friends of Haggerty for funding this upcoming visit.

On Tuesday, November 4th, King Arthur Flour will teach 4th and 5th graders how to make bread as part of their Bake For Good program. This supports the fifth grade study of wheat and fourth grade study of US Regions.

Let me know how I can support your child’s curiosity in the library.
