Bad News OutlawsAuthor Vaunda Micheaux Nelson Visits Haggerty!
Author Vaunda Micheaux Nelson met with 4th and 5th graders on Friday, October 10. Ms. Micheaux Nelson is a public librarian outside of Albequerque, NM as well as an award winning author. When asked why her books are about African Americans, the 61 year old Ms. MN explained that her research and writing are a way for her to learn about her heritage, about events and people she did not learn about when she was in school. FOHShe told students that she believes she became a writer because her mother read every night to her and her four siblings into their teenage years. Ask your child for their take-aways from the presentation.
