Joyous Sounds at the Winter Peace Concert

winter concertHaggerty’s Peace Concert on December 9 was a great success, thanks to the hard work of all involved! We had more than a packed house, with all students grades JK-4 performing, as well as 3rd-5th grade Haggerty Chorus. The concert opened with kindergarten, whose highlight was Raffi's song All I Really Need. 1st grade sang in two parts (Circle the Earth with Peace and Tailor of Gloucester) and delivered a poignant, relevant message (Brotherhood and Sisterhood). 3rd grade demonstrated their understanding of ostinato (Diggi Diggi Dong and Ding Dong) and 4th grade sang a piece they composed (Good Better Best), along with a few pieces on recorder (Hot Cross Buns and Pierrot). 2nd grade sang an old favorite by Tom Paxton (The Marvelous Toy), a two-part patriotic song (America, Of Thee I Sing), and nailed it singing three parts (Georgia Sea Islands Spiritual Yonder Come Day). Haggerty Chorus sang a canon (Farewell to the Old Year), a fun old favorite (Frim Fram Sauce), a beautiful piece in Hebrew (Oseh Shalom), and ended with a relevant musical theatre favorite (This is the Moment). We hope everyone was inspired to create more good and peace in the world.

We are so proud of all our students who worked so hard to make today a success. Thank you to Shelley Irvin-Kent and Andrea Gaudette for their work with the kids!

Thanks to Lissa (filming, media releases, parent coffee), Maria (programs), custodians Joe and James (setting up risers so many times!), phys ed teacher Tom (sharing his teaching space for so many rehearsals), parents Carroll Magill, Sally Prasad & Sarah Vezeau (decorating the gym), and all the classroom teachers who came to rehearsals to support their students.
