Dear Haggerty Families:

It seems impossible that we have come to the end of another school year!

Thank you for a great year. I know you join me in thanking the Haggerty faculty for their ongoing efforts and tireless work in educating your children. They go above and beyond, every day, to make sure they reach each student. They are driven to see each and every child succeed. It’s an honor to work with a faculty with the level of compassion and commitment found here at Haggerty.

Haggerty families are integral in this work too; I cannot thank you enough for your support. We are fortunate and honored to have you as partners in your child’s learning.

Enjoy your children and the change of pace the summer offers you and your family. Read often! Read together, share stories, and encourage your child to explore the world around them. The more they do, with your guidance and conversation, their vocabulary GROWS. The stronger their vocabulary, the better readers and writers they become!

Remember that the Cambridge Public Libraries are a fabulous place to enjoy time with your children this summer. Each student should spend at least 20 minutes a day reading! The final student report card will be sent home on the last day of school and many teachers will make individualized suggestions for summer work on the report card. The coaches and teachers will also send home summer reading and math expectations and resources for your children.

The following link is to the district’s reading recommendations for all students – Kindergarten through 8th Grade. Check it out! Also, the uniteforliteracy.com website offers childrens’ books in many languages, check it out!

Best wishes for a relaxing, safe and enjoyable summer!

Thanks for a terrific year!

Nancy
