Author and artist Aaron Becker visited Haggerty on Tuesday, March 28th. Every grade level heard his descriptions of creating his three wordless books:
Journey, Return, and Quest. He presented different stages of his illustrations and the power of our imagination with wordless books. Thanks to Friends of Haggerty for supporting this day long visit from this amazing author/illustrator! He commemorated his visit by signing our “Invitation to the Library” mural.
Student reflections on the visit:
“I liked that we were the first kids to see his new book before it is published in 2018.”
“I really liked how he used an imagining activity that helped me to understand his art. I also liked having an illustrator at our school.”
“I liked that he treated us like adults.”
“He inspired me to hold onto my imagination.”
“He told us that patience is the key to creating a book.”
“I liked learning about the app he uses to create his art on a computer.”
