On Friday, December 13th, the Haggerty students (JK - 4th grade and the Haggerty chorus) performed in our annual Peace Day Concert. The music curriculum at Haggerty is designed around the Kodaly philosophy and method of music education. This method is structured and sequenced, while maintaining artistry in learning traditional folk songs. At Haggerty, grades K-2 have music four times a week with Ms. Irvin-Kent and grades 3-4 have music once per week with Mr. Mooney. A chorus elective is offered to all 3-5 students, and all 5 graders participate in a twice-weekly instrumental program.
The students voices were clear and beautiful, with each grade singing between 3 and 5 songs, and the chorus bringing us home with a selection of 4 amazing songs. Thank you to our wonderful music teachers, Ms. Irvin-Kent and Mr. Mooney, and the accompanist Ms. Donato.
