Author Mitali Perkins Visits 3rd and 4th Grade

As the sun broke through the clouds on Tuesday afternoon, the ebullient author Mitali Perkins arrived to share her life experiences as an immigrant child in NYC, and later as an author. She invited students to connect to her presentation by considering cultural commonalities and differences as she spoke about her early life in Bangladesh and later in the United States. We learned that Rickshaw Girl and Tiger Boy are stories written to appreciate and to acknowledge the life of her parents as children growing up in Bangladesh and India.
