Dress Up Like a Book Character Day was a great success! Students and teachers alike wore costumes to represent some of their favorite book characters in our Parade of Characters. Students and families showed lots of creativity using ordinary clothes and the crafters among us went all out. Thanks to the families and friends who lined the parade route around the block to May Street and back up to Cushing Street.
During the day, many classrooms had Mystery Readers or DEAR (Drop Everything And Read) Time. At the end of the day, we gathered as a whole community for an assembly in the gym. Ms. Healy's JK class acted out the story of The Old Lady Who Swallowed a Fly. Fifth grade hosts Shifa and Shanze interviewed third grade author Zain. Finally, the Haggerty Chorus led us all in the Read Across America Day song.
A big thank you to all of the families and teachers who worked so hard to make the day special!
