This month, our school community has been teaching, honoring and celebrating Black History.
Students have been reading about Black Americans throughout our school and learning about the thousands of contributions made throughout the years and throughout our country. Some classrooms decorated their classroom doors to showcase Black History. Here are 2 images of classroom doors from Room 104 and 105. Some classrooms studied individuals while other classrooms focused on movements of social change led by Black Americans.
Our fifth graders, Louis M. and Ayesha S. led Morning Announcements each day including a fact, quote or trivia question focused on teaching Black History. While we take the opportunity to highlight Black History Month in February, our community is committed to honoring and celebrating the diverse culture of our country and our city throughout the school year.
If there are caregivers who would like to borrow books or if you are looking for specific books to celebrate your culture, please email
Ms. Mency or
Mrs. Russell anytime.
