Haggerty celebrates student's musical talents at the Spring Concert
Posted on 06/13/2022
On Friday, June 10th, our annual Spring Concert returned to in-person for the first time in three years! We gathered on the playground on a beautiful morning to hear the voices of our JK - 2nd graders and our Haggerty Chorus. Kindergarten, first, and second grade each sang four pieces of music, many in parts. The Haggerty Chorus sang five songs! It was a joy to hear their lovely voices back in concert. We heard songs from Japan, Appalachia, all around the United States, Israel, Trinidad, Tobago, and The Gambia. Thank you for sharing in our Spring Concert!

The music curriculum at Haggerty is designed around the Kodaly philosophy and method of music education. This method is structured and sequenced, while maintaining artistry in learning traditional folk songs. At Haggerty, grades K-2 have music four times a week with Mx. Irvin and grades 3-4 have music once per week with Dr. Ferrari. A before school chorus elective is offered to all students in grades 3-5 and grade 1, while all 5th graders participate in a twice-weekly instrumental program.

Thank you to music teachers Shelley Irvin and Brendan Ferrari!
