What is SAC?
A school council is a representative school based committee composed of the principal, parents, teachers, and community members. School councils are required to be established by each school pursuant to Massachusetts General Laws Chapter 71, Section 59C.
School councils are a means of promoting the educational benefits of site-based decision making, and supports the development and implementation of the School Improvement Plan.
What are the Responsibilities of SAC?
The major responsibility is to review the School Improvement Plan. The School Improvement Plan is REQUIRED by the School Committee and is developed and designed by the Principal and the instructional leadership team (teachers and instructional coaches) with input from SAC members.
